What Is The Type Of Specimen Needed For DNA Testing?

Each part of our body can be used as specimen for DNA testing. In the film Gattaca, most of the crimes are probable because of efficient DNA testing tools and as well as the organized DNA database system.

For instance, personals of the crime investigation unit just have to do housecleaning (including vacuuming the carpet in the crime scene) to gather all the specimens – hair, body hair, bread or cookie crumbs that contain saliva, fingernails, or even tiny bits of tissues from our body – these can be used as evidence in court to put the culprits behind bars.

You just could not cheat DNA test – it’s like a fingerprinting, it’s unchangeable!

That’s why Vincent in Gattaca has to brush his body early in the morning during shower time, keep his fingernails short; preparing fake urine sample etc…in daily basis!
