Today, it’s all about rats - they can be our friends, not foes. Just as you love Ratatouille.
In study of life and diseases, most of these experiments are performed on lab. Thanks to their existence, many of human lives are saved based on new scientific discoveries which requires lab rats to be tested earlier before new pharmaceutical products are tested on humans.
DNA testing research on humans can also be done on rats as they contain genes that are very identical to humans. There are few leading research institutions that are involve in updating rat genome which is commonly known as Rat Genome Database - a large database of genes discovered specifically from rats.
I’ve just found out from RGD site that they are providing free 2008 calender which depicts their previous works on rats in each page of the calender.
Those pictures of rats are absolutely cute and adorable - you can even find one rat that glows in the dark in one page from the calender.
