Ancient DNA Testing - Secrets Between Cave Bear and Brown Bear Revealed

I like teddy bears when I was a young kid. I just read this summary about determining relationship between cave bear (long extinct species) and currently existed bears by using mitochondrial DNA via Sciencemag.org
A paper published online this week helps untangle bear phylogeny by presenting the mitochondrial genome of the extinct cave bear, Ursus spelaeus. Another paper, published last July, also reported the complete mitochondrial DNA of the cave bear as well as that of the extinct American short-faced bear, Arctodus simus.
Read more about it here.
Here’s another science journal which was published in Current Biology in 2001.
